I have a complex

I have this weird thing when a big thing that pertains to my “beats” happens/is released, I can’t engage with it or comment on it for at least until a month afterwards.

Everyone be like, “Stephen, any hot takes on [Beyonce’s new album, Pope’s new encyclical, what Pope said about gay people, Bad Bunny’s latest “political statement,” the [initiation ritual-esque] spectacle that took place at a music award show, act of terror [which sets off my conspiratorial schizo-brained thought patterns]???”

I normally don’t want to engage right away because it gives me an insane amount of anxiety. I need time for the zeitgeist to calm down…so I can contemplate whatever thing it is and process my thoughts. [And sometimes I won’t respond at all because I often have things to say that people will label as “unhinged” and then they get mad at me and then I’m like “then don’t fking as me what I think if you don’t actually wanna know!”]

Anyway, everyone is asking me about Rosalia’s new nun-maxxing album, and her statement about the need for God.

I will not comment on her album until a considerable amount of time passes. For now, all I will say is this:

1. Rosalia is the greatest pop star of our times [and by “great,” I don’t mean “Good”…explained here and here].

2. She operates “within the matrix” of global technocratic power [is signed to one of the 3 major record labels]. So anything she says or does is compromised. I don’t take any political [or religious] statements pop stars [or other major figures within the system] make seriously. Any allegedly “Christian” message—regardless of how sincere it may be—is neutered by it being disseminated by an incontrovertibly ungodly structure of power (also check out the allusions to esoteric/occult initiation rituals in the videos from El Mal Querer…standard fare for mainstream musicians).
